Welcome to our website, and welcome to Leopard Leap Lodge. A hidden gem in the Waterberg Mountains, with breathtaking views over the Waterberg and spectaculair sunsets.
January 31st 2007 we moved from the Netherlands to this 787 hectares gamefarm, officially named Donkerhoek. Which means something like dark corner. We did not consider this name very appealing or inviting. The love for our own spotted cat "Taiga" (to our deepest regret died April 6th 2008) and the presence of Leopards on the farm made us decide to call the farm Leopard Leap Lodge with a leaping leopard in our logo.
Our farm is a refuge for Giraffe, Zebra, Eland Antilope, Kudu, Nyala, Impala, Oryx, Leopard, Serval, Caracal, Brown Hyena, Jackal, Porcupine, Pangolin and many other smaller species. There is also abundant birdlife on the farm.
You are kindly invited to join us and share in the splendour of the pristine Waterbergarea. Be it either in our thatch roofed guesthouse (living area, bed- en en-suite bathroom) or in one of our three bushtents that sleeps two each in the bushcamp, or in the cute "Hansel und Gretel" cottage.
Our farm is an excellent place for birders, naturelovers, hiking and 4x4 drives as well. With the added advantage of Big 5 areas such as Welgevonden/Marakele, Entabeni, Ka’Ingo and Mabalingwe and Botswana just around the corner.
The Waterberg is a Malaria-free area and only 3,5 hours from Johannesburg/O.R.Tambo International Airport.
On this website you will find valuable information about the attractions of our Waterberg-area. Should you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
yours,
Jan en Maya Oosterhofff
